Pastor Benn and a group of members wanted to create a way to remember the legacy of Rev. H. H. Wright while continuing his advocacy for equality and community. This park will welcome all people from all races and backgrounds. Our prayer is for the space to be a special place where God's children can feel loved and safe.

He was called to the ministry at the age of 19 and pastored over 50 years.  He is a graduate of Lane College, in Jackson TN.  Rev. Rev. Wright founded the Action Coordinating Council; an organization focused on the needs of the poor and those who were treated unfairly. He spearheaded the change in the political structure of the Chattanooga City Government, from a city commission to a city council, which provided more equal political representation. Rev. Wright was also one of the founding members of the 28th Legislative District Community Development Corporation, recognizing early the importance of housing and economic development as a resource for poor communities.
